After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, you might be feeling a little extra eager to see results, and even while you're consuming your post-gastric bypass diet, you might not be feeling that the effects are showing up quickly enough. At some point, you might be even tempted to clock in hours of exercise or to start taking diet pills, just to speed things up a little. The question is: Should you go for it?
The answer: no. You should let your body recover after such a major type of surgery. Exercising will strain your stomach and cause you a lot of discomfort, more than what you have already been feeling, while diet pills are not advisable for your new system. The best thing for you to do is just to let the effects of gastric bypass surgery do its work and not to rush it. Be patient, and keep your body nourished with your gastric bypass diet meals and vitamin supplements to help your body take in more nutrients.

Slowly moving on to more solid foods
Liquids will make up a large bulk of the food that you can consume after your gastric bypass surgery, but once you've finally begun to adjust to consuming food and liquids, you may soon be able to move on to something a little more substantial. Of course, you're not supposed to eat solid foods yet, so don't expect to enjoy smaller portions of your favorite meals for at least another six or eight weeks. During the weeks after your liquid diet, you can then proceed to eating pureed foods as part of the second phase of your post-gastric bypass diet. It's not much fun, true, but it's very important for you to gradually ease your stomach into taking in food with thicker consistencies. Foods that you can puree include lean ground meats, fish, beans, and fruits and vegetables. You can even eat yogurt around this time. Make sure that the foods you eat are blended and pureed thoroughly, without any solid chunks and pieces.

Control your cravings
After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, you can expect your eating habits to change drastically. Gone are the days when you think that you can eat absolutely everything in sight. Gastric bypass surgery definitely helps you control the way you eat, and by doing this, you stand a better chance of losing weight--which was what you wanted to achieve in the first place, right?
You will have to go on a special diet after your gastric bypass surgery. For one thing, you won't even be able to eat a lot, because it will cause a lot of discomfort and nausea for you if you eat more than you should. Expect to go on a liquid diet for a few days after the procedure. This gastric bypass diet will require you to consume mainly broths, milk, cream soups, and unsweetened fruit juices. Keep in mind that even if these are liquids, you shouldn't drink them too quickly and in large quantities.
